What is Specialist Disability Accommodation?

Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA)
SDA is housing designed for people with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs. It is the home itself — the bricks, mortar and accessible design — not the support delivered inside it. SDA can be funded through the NDIS for participants who meet the eligibility criteria.
Supported Independent Living (SIL)
SIL is the day-to-day support — help with daily tasks delivered by a disability support provider. Excelsior provides the home; you choose the SIL provider who supports you. The two are deliberately kept separate so you keep choice and control.

Better physical access and features for people with sensory, intellectual or cognitive impairment.
Fully Accessible
For people with significant physical impairment — step-free access, wider spaces and accessible fittings throughout.
Robust
Resilient, durable homes designed to reduce the risk of injury and minimise disturbance, in a safe and secure setting.
High Physical Support
For very high support needs — with provisions like ceiling hoists, backup power and climate control.
