SDA and SIL are not the same thing — and why that protects your choice

Two acronyms cause more confusion than any others in disability housing: SDA and SIL. They sound similar, they often happen in the same house, but they are different things — and the difference matters for your independence.
SDA is the home
Specialist Disability Accommodation funding pays for the physical dwelling — the specialist design and the bricks and mortar. It goes to a housing provider, like us.
SIL is the support
Supported Independent Living funding pays for the people who support you day to day in your home — help with personal care, cooking, medications and daily living. It goes to a support provider you choose.
Why we keep them separate
We are deliberately a housing-only provider. Because we do not deliver your supports, you are free to choose — and change — your SIL provider without putting your home at risk. In shared homes the household uses one provider, and a simple household vote allows for change.
That separation is not a technicality; it is a safeguard. Your home should never be leverage in a disagreement with a support provider. Read more about how SDA works or why we run our model this way.
