We are a registered NDIS provider of Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA), offering high-quality, safe and supported homes for people with disability. We currently have housing options in Orange, Dubbo, Bathurst and Broken Hill.

No — and that’s deliberate. We provide the housing, and you choose a separate disability support provider for your day-to-day supports. We believe accommodation and supports are best delivered by different organisations, so you keep choice and control.

At Excelsior, rent is called a Reasonable Rent Contribution (RRC). It is generally 25% of the Commonwealth Disability Support Pension, plus 100% of any Commonwealth Rent Assistance you receive. As your pension changes, your rent changes with it. For SDA homes, the SDA price itself is funded through your NDIS plan.

It can take up to 12 months from start to finish to get SDA funding approved. Supported Independent Living (SIL) can be much faster. The best first step is to tell your Support Coordinator as soon as possible that you’re looking for housing.

SDA is funded for participants with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs who meet the NDIS SDA criteria. You’ll need an assessment of your housing needs — your LAC, Support Coordinator, or a registered NDIS provider can help organise this.

Furniture is provided in the living areas of all shared homes. For homes occupied by one person, you may need to provide your own furniture. We will discuss this with you when you apply.

If you live alone, yes — though you may need to give notice to your current provider. In a shared home, a change of SIL service is decided by a vote, where a majority of residents must agree.

We care about our tenants’ happiness. You can submit a complaint to us directly, and you may also make a complaint about Excelsior directly to the NDIS Commission.
